Yerevan /Mediamax/. Tatev Choir headed by Archimandrite Mikael Gevorgyan and choirmaster Lusine Sargsyan performed spiritual songs while taking part in religious ceremonies in a number of churches within the pilgrimage to Yerevan and Aragatsotn on April 12-18.

The choir performed at the churches of Saint Marine in Ashtarak, Oshakan Saint Mesrop Mashtots, Hovhannavank Church in Ohanavan, Saint Trinity Church in Yerevan and Saint Sargis Church in Aragavand as well as Charents Museum of Literature and Arts.

“In the period following the Easter holidays, we decided to deliver the good news of Christ’s resurrection to people and organized this pilgrimage-tour with the sponsorship of Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation. During the performances, we presented Mesrop Mashtots’ and famous Armenian archimandrites’ chants and Komitas’ arrangements. We hope everyone greatly enjoyed them. Children were excited to spend these days in various holy places”, said Archimandrite Mikael Gevorgyan.

Tatev Monastery Choir was established in late 2013 within Tatev Revival project implemented by IDeA Foundation. The choir comprises talented children from communities adjacent to the monastery complex- Halidzor, Tatev, Shinuhair, Svarants and Khot.

The Choir has already performed in a number of churches. Led by Archimandrite Mikael Gevorgyan, the choir has carried out pilgrimages to Etchmiadzin, Yerevan and Artsakh as well.
