Yerevan /Mediamax/. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope today that Armenia will give up its territorial claims to Turkey and Azerbaijan.
“Sooner or later Armenia will understand that territorial claims do not bring benefit or honor to any country. I hope that Armenia will give up its territorial claims to Turkey and Azerbaijan, and if not, it will worsen its position even more,” Aliyev said, speaking at the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States in Istanbul.
He noted that “Azerbaijan is doing everything to strengthen the Turkic world.”
Aliyev reminded that “in the 20s of the 20th century, with the decision of the Soviet leadership, Azerbaijan was in fact divided, and part of the Azerbaijani territory was handed over to Armenia.”
“In this way the Turkic world was divided, and today we again unite the geography of the Turkic world through logistics projects,” Aliyev said.
“Launching the Zangezur corridor will open up very broad opportunities for the entire region. This corridor has good potential, it will connect all the countries of the Turkic world, connect us with Europe. This is a very important project,” Azerbaijani president said.
