Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of the Emergency Situations Service of Georgia Temur Giorgadze said that the information on the fire in the Armenian St Nshan church in Tbilisi “is not true”.

GHN Georgian agency reports that Temur Giorgadze said that calls on the fire in the church have been received over 2 days. According to him, in one of the cases – the fire started in the basement adjacent to the church and in the second – the garbage by the church caught fire.

“In fact, there were calls on the adjacent territory where the garbage caught fire. It didn’t reach the church though. We held cleaning works and the temple is not threatened in this phase”, said Giorgadze.

The Armenian Ministry of Culture reported today that it sent a commission of specialists to Tbilisi to investigate the circumstances of the fire which started in the Armenian St Nshan church on January 9 night. The Ministry said that the southeastern column of the church came down while the fire was being put out.
