Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin stated that the referendum in Crimea is "another example of realization of the right of peoples of self-determination through the free expression of will”.

The Armenian presidential press service reports on the phone talk held upon the Armenian President’s initiative between the leaders of the two countries on March 19.

“At the same time, the importance of commitment to the international law standards and principles and, first of all, the UN Charter, was stressed. The Presidents also discussed issues related to the Nagorno Karabakh peace process.The Armenian President hailed Russia’s involvement as OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair and highlighted the importance of the Co-Chairs’ joint efforts aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict. Serzh Sargsyan confirmed Armenia’s readiness to continue joint works with the OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs on the settlement of the conflict”, the press release reads.
