Aliyev admits that Cathedral in Shushi might have been hit by a “mistake”

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev admitted that the Holy Savior Cathedral in Shushi might have been hit by a "mistake”.

In an interview with France 24, as quoted by Azertac state news agency, Aliyev particularly said:

“We have to study this fact. We are not sure what happened. There are suspicions that it was done by Armenians, who want to accuse us. If it was done by the Azerbaijani armed forces, then it was a mistake. We are not targeting historical or cultural sites.”

It should be reminded that the Azeri air defense shelled the Holy Savior Cathedral in Shushi twice. Three Russian reporters were injured following the second strike.

Prior to Aliyev’s this interview, Azerbaijan categorically denied the accusation of shelling the Cathedral.
