Yerevan /Mediamax/. Representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan stated that on October 9 hostilities began with renewed intensity, both in the south and in the north.

Today, military operations took place more in the north than the previous day, but the most intense battles were in the south.

“Armenian Armed Forces continue to resist the enemy’s offensive aspirations and delivering necessary counterattack, pushed the adversary back. Today the enemy has suffered some losses. According to preliminary data, 2 dozen armored vehicles have been destroyed,” he said.

He noted that the intensity of hostilities is changing due to a number of circumstances.

“The Defense Army broke and crushed the intensity of the Azerbaijani armed forces’ “machine”. The 4th Army Corps, which is the elite of Azerbaijani army and is armed exclusively with T-90 tanks, should have been able to reach 30-40 km in depth in 5 days. If you use such forces and fail to do so, then you have thwarted the operation,” said Artsrun Hovhannisyan.

Touching upon the allegations of official Baku concerning the “liberation” of Jabrayil, Hadrut and nearby villages, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said:

“To put it mildly, it’s ridiculous, because I was in Hadrut right at that time. Moreover, there were no military operations in that exact direction at all. Given the fact that the military leadership of another state has a great influence on Aliyev's armed forces, we have seen at least several times during this war that Aliyev is saying things that do not correspond to reality at all. There is great doubt and concern that the government system in Azerbaijan is strategically disrupted. Aliyev is quite possible in a trap.”

The representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry also said that the shelling of Stepanakert continued throughout the day, and at least several dozens of explosions have erupted from various weapons.
