Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Minister of Science and Education Armen Ashotyan stated today that this year the salaries of lecturers in higher educational institutions will not increase.

Armen Ashotyan said this in response to Mediamax’s question on whether they plan to increase salaries of teachers and lecturers of higher educational institutions in conditions of high inflation.

“Salaries of teachers are formed from the fund of paid services. From this point of view, the year of 2011 is a crisis year, since there will be no school graduates, and at best the number of students entering higher educational institutions will reduce threefold. This is not the best year in terms of increase of salaries. And teachers will be issued certificates in the course of 5 years as a result of attestation and the teachers having high certification will receive markups”, Minister said.

Commenting on the process of attestation of school headmasters, Minister of Science and Education said that “one should not compromise this process or consider it perfect”, and added that the revealed shortcomings are being corrected.
