Yerevan /Mediamax/. At the meeting in Moscow on August 23, Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan informed his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu about the military and political situation in the region after the July clashes on Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
Spokeswoman of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan has stated that Davit Tonoyan also introduced Shoigu to the operative situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan state border and Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact.
“Davit Tonoyan has underlined that aggressive statements and military actions of certain countries are aimed at destabilizing and militarizing the situation in the region. In his turn, the Russian Minister of Defense has attached importance to implementation of efforts, conducive for strengthening of stability, by all countries. Upon highlighting the strategic and allied nature of Armenian-Russian relations, the two Defense Ministers have discussed and agreed on the next efforts in the framework of military cooperation,” said Shushan Stepanyan.
Davit Tonoyan visited Moscow in the framework of International Army Games 2020 event.
