Yerevan/Mediamax/. President Serzh Sargsyan stated that Armenia thinks it inappropriate when particular CSTO member states make statements on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict which are discordant with the organization's decisions.
The Armenian leader said this during the CSTO Council in Sochi today, "Interfax-West" news agency reports.
"Despite the spirit of decisions made by us, some CSTO member states make statements in other platforms and other organizations which are discordant with the CSTO decisions", said Serzh Sargsyan.
According to him, it's natural that many countries have their own interests linked to Azerbaijan but "we can't agree in any way that the relations lead to adoption of documents aimed against CSTO member states' interests and image of the Organization on the whole", said the Armenian President.
Serzh Sargsyan noted that numerous CSTO documents and particularly the Moscow Declaration 2012 "stress the importance of solely peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through the mediation of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs based on the principles and norms of international law and particularly non-use of force and threat of use of force, equal rights and nations' right of self-determination and territorial integrity of states".
"Over the past years, some documents (with participation of some CSTO countries) including ones on the presidential level were adopted where the principle of territorial integrity stands out selectively and to the detriment to other principles", said Serzh Sargsyan.
According to him, such a position of particular CSTO countries is especially unacceptable "against the background of anti-Armenian rhetoric of the Azerbaijani President who constantly voices the threat of use of force against peaceful people of Nagorno Karabakh".
At the same time, he noted that "despite some drawbacks, we managed to achieve some positive results within the CSTO.
"Further enhancement of our work effectiveness and prestige of our Organization directly depends on the level of coordination of our foreign policy activities", said the Armenian President.
