Yerevan/Mediamax/. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) of India will set up computer labs for school students of Armenia’s Tavush region.

The relevant agreement was signed between the C-DAC and the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Mediamax reports quoting The Times of India.

The project aims at upgrading information technology education and related facilities in 19 schools in urban and semi-urban areas of Tavush region and 53 schools in rural areas. More than 15,000 students are expected to benefit from the project, where 72 labs will be set up.

The Hayastan All Armenian Fund (HAAF) is the Armenian partner of C-DAC. The latter will procure the necessary IT equipment to schools and supervise the onsite support during the period of warranty. The project is estimated at $‌5,6mln.

C-DAC General Director Rajat Moona noted that C-DAC has already made some inroads with the implementation of the India-Armenia Centre for Excellence in ICT at Yerevan. The Center is planned to open this fall on the territory of Yerevan State University where Param super-computer will be placed.
