Yerevan /Mediamax/. The press service of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced today its own version of the yesterday’s phone conversation between Aliyev and Vladimir Putin.
“Ilham Aliyev has noted that the volume of military cargo, delivered from Russia to Armenia through the air space of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran immediately after the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijan border, exceeded 400 tons. He has underlined that the main goal of his call was to clarify that issue,” reads the press service’s statement quoted by TASS.
The statement also says that Aliyev “pointed out to the Russian President that the intensity of military cargo supply from Russia to Armenia after July 17 causes concerns and serious questions in the Azerbaijani society to this day”.
In the evening of August 12, a phone conversation took place between Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev. The statement of the Kremlin’s press service said:
“The parties have exchanged views on regional issues in the context of the escalation of the situation on Azerbaijan-Armenia state border this July. The Russian side has stressed the importance of unacceptability of any actions that lead to escalation.”
