Yerevan /Mediamax/. Russian sappers in Stepanakert "have found especially many unexploded M-85 "Kolokolchik” cluster munitions.
Head of the engineering troops of Russian Armed Forces, General Lieutenant Yuri Stavitsky has revealed these findings in the interview to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
The international humanitarian law forbids the use of cluster munitions in densely populated areas.
“Our sappers are finding a huge number of abandoned munitions and unexploded missiles on the line of contacts. Many areas nearing the combat posts of Armenian and Azerbaijani forces were mined. On the entire length of the Lachin corridor, our sappers discovered and successfully defused ready-to-explode munitions on a number of motorway bridges,” said Stavitsky.
