Yerevan /Mediamax/. RBC informs that EAEU decided to cancel PMs’ summit in Yerevan and postpone it to a later date due to escalation of situation in Karabakh.
“According to the government, summit with participation of Medvedev would be seen as support for one of the sides, ” informs RBC.
However, Armenian Prime Minister’s Spokeswoman Gohar Poghosyan told Mediamax today that “the decision to hold the summit remains in force at this moment”.
According to one of RBC’s interlocutors, the cancelation of meeting in Yerevan is specified by the idea that “participation of PMs of other countries, including Russian PM, during escalation of conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia could be seen as support for one of the sides”.
Commenting on information about possible cancelation of summit in Yerevan, Russian Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Natalya Timakova only stated that Moscow is waiting for the official decision of EAEU, where Kazakhstan currently holds Chairmanship.
A sourse in the Russian government said that the matter of Dmitry Medvedev’s working visit to Armenia on April 7 isn’t settled yet. “This matter isn’t related to the summit directly and is being decided in Moscow and Yerevan, not in Kazakhstan, ” says the report.
