Yerevan /Mediamax/. Spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan has said today that "the dialogue between Armenia and Russia is continuous and proceeding as usual at all levels and the public is duly informed about the developments that occur in the frames of that dialogue”.

She has made that remark, answering the question from Mediamax on whether Armenia intents to initiate a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier today, Armenian Prime Minister’s Spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan has told Mediamax that she cannot make comments on phone calls between Armenian and Russian leaders because it is the function of the Foreign Ministry.

A phone conversation took place between Vladimir Putin and [Azerbaijani President] Ilham Aliyev in the evening of August 12. The Kremlin’s press service released a statement which said:

“The parties have exchanged views on regional issues in the context of the escalation of the situation on Azerbaijan-Armenia state border this July. The Russian side has stressed the importance of unacceptability of any actions that lead to escalation.”

The Armenian and Russian leaders did not have a discussion after the July skirmishes on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

The last phone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan took place on 1 June 2020, when the Russian President congratulated Pashinyan on his birthday and wished him to recover quickly from COVID-19.
