Yerevan /Mediamax/. The European Union is ready to back the reform process in Armenia, European Commission Vice-President / EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said at the meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on March 9.
The Armenian government’s press service has said that during the meeting in Brussels, “Josep Borrell welcomed the fight against corruption, the ongoing judicial reform and the developments in other spheres”.
The interlocutors touched on the possibility of launching the EU-Armenia visa liberalization talks and exchanged views on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process. Mr Borrell reaffirmed the EU’s support for the peaceful settlement of the conflict.

On March 9 Nikol Pashinyan met European Council President Charles Michel as well. The meeting focused on the reform process underway in Armenia.
“The European Union is our key partner in advancing the reforms; we have felt EU’s backing all the way through the reform process,” said the Prime Minister.

Nikol Pashinyan stressed that his government would be consistent in developing and strengthening democracy in Armenia, protecting human rights, and enforcing the rule of law.

The Prime Minister also met European People’s Party (EPP) President Donald Tusk in Brussels.
