Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan had a phone talk in the evening of March 24 with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu.

“Suren Papikyan presented the latest developments in the Askeran region of the Artsakh Republic in connection with the violation of the line of contact by the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces and the explosive situation created as a result. The Armenian minister of defense stressed the need for the Azerbaijani units to return to their starting positions.

Sergei Shoigu assured that the situation is in the focus of the Russian side, and necessary steps are being taken to resolve it peacefully,” the Armenian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
