Yerevan /Mediamax/. The National Security Service has today informed about unveiling of a criminal group which was going to organize a number of grave crimes in Armenia.
The criminal group was created and led by Armenian citizen, former Yerevan resident living abroad, Arthur Vardanyan upon his arrival in Armenia, the press service of the Armenian National Security Service reports.
“According to the preliminary agreement, the criminal group illegally obtained a large number of weapons and ammunition which was hidden in Nork district in Yerevan, in a specially rented house”, the press release reads.
During the joint searches with the police, various types of rifles, pistols, grenade launchers, grenades, explosives and explosive devices, communication equipment, ammunition and military outfits including bulletproof vests were found.
At the moment of the search, 9 members of the gang were gathered led by Arthur Avanesyan in the house; all of them were arrested.
A criminal case has been instituted at the Investigation Department of the National Security Service.
