Yerevan /Mediamax/. British lawyer, Professor Geoffrey Robertson thinks that the UN Security Council should immediately refer the conflict to the International Criminal Court, which is now empowered to investigate the crime of aggression, which appears to have been committed by Aliyev with the support of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Geoffrey Robertson said this in an article published in The Australian Newspaper.
“Despite Aliyev’s denials, evidence from France and Russia and the British media proves that in the last month Turkish companies have recruited and paid fighters from Syria to join the Azeri forces – proof that Turkey and Azerbaijan planned their attack in advance," Robertson added.
Geoffrey Robertson and Amal Clooney defended Armenia’s rights in the case “Perincek against Switzerland” as a third party.
On October 3, another leading expert in the field of human rights and international law Alfred de Zayas stated that Azeri President Ilham Aliyev should be indicted by the International Criminal Court for committing the crime of aggression.
