Yerevan /Mediamax/. Health Minister of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan today has stated that the government has begun distributing a limited amount of COVID-19 vaccines.
“We received a small batch of Sputnik V vaccines as a gift from Russia and we will get a large batch later, and so the process of vaccination will continue,” she said at a briefing at the government.
According to Anahit Avanesyan, vaccination will be voluntary in Armenia.
She has noted that risk groups (citizens aged 65+, medical workers, people with chronic illnesses) will be able to get the vaccine through the government procurement program.
The Health Minister has added that all vaccines undergo a three-stage clinical research and Armenia is importing only the vaccines that have the completed data of the third stage.
