Yerevan /Mediamax/. The United States feels that the U.S.-Armenian relationship is being a top priority, U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton said today.

“This is a region that is strategically important to the United States,” Bolton told the press in Yerevan.

Touching on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Bolton noted that his intention was not to make new suggestions “but to learn more about the way things stand”.

“We are eager to help in resolution over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict both through our continuing role as co-chair of the Minsk Group but also in any way we can behind the scene, because resolution to the conflict is not only a benefit for the Armenian and Azerbaijan, it could be the in best interests of the United States as well,” said the American diplomat.

John Bolton observed that the resolution of Karabakh conflict is the primary issue on the Armenian political agenda.

“It is a fact that if the predictions come true and Nikol Pashinyan is elected Prime Minister, he will have a very strong mandate and that is the best moment to take a strong action in the number of different respects,” he said.

Bolton emphasized that the weapon supply from Russia to the opposing parties does not contribute to the resolution of the dispute.

U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton also met with Secretary of Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan, acting Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
