Yerevan/Mediamax/. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has said today that "Armenia denounces the military equipment contract between Belarus and Azerbaijan”.
While speaking at a newsconference in Yerevan, Nikol Pashinyan said that the new deal is “aimed against the interests of Armenia and is destructive to the essence of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)”.
Touching on his own statement and the response from Belarusian MFA Spokesperson made last week, Pashinyan said, “My interlocutor in this matter is the President of Belarus, and I have yet to receive a response from him.”
“I will demand explanation from the Belarusian President about that instance and some other processes. We will not stay silent on any issue concerning the interests of Armenia. We will defend the national interests of our country,” said the acting PM.
He noted that if the CSTO members do not reach a consensus at the meeting in St. Petersburg on December 6, “Armenia will continue working in that direction”.
According to Pashinyan, he already stated there is a need for CSTO member states to clarify mutual commitments.
“We fulfill our allied obligations in their entirety, but unfortunately, the same cannot be said about some of our partners. Therefore, there is a need to clarify these commitments,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
