Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman recommended the Chamber of Deputies to discuss a resolution on the Armenian Genocide.

Prague-based Orer European Magazine reports that this information was provided to media by the Spokesman for Czech President, Jiri Ovcacek.

President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman received Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Jan Hamacek on June 22.

Milos Zeman said after talks with Armenian President during his state visit to Armenia in early June:

“I would like to reaffirm my condemnation of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, which I expressed during the state visit of President Sargsyan to the Czech Republic two years ago, given that in case Nazi Germany won, my nation would have suffered similar annihilation.

I know that 10 member states of the European Union recognized the Armenian Genocide, as well as several non-EU countries - Canada, Russia and Switzerland. Reaffirmation of my statement is not enough, so I will take the matter further and recommend the Chairman to follow the example of the German Bundestag, so that the Parliament of the Czech Republic approves a similar resolution.”
