“Armenian Davos or Armenian pathos?”

“When we start to praise the fact that there are many auspicious conditions being established in Armenia for investments, they do not give results. When we want to have an Armenian Davos, this means to have new approaches”, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian announced at the international “Bridge” Conference in Tsakhkadzor without unnecessary modesty. I believe that voicing in Tsakhkadzor the idea of establishing the “Armenian Davos” was a psychologically correct step, since the prices in Tsakhkadzor are Davos-like. And concerning other issues, our economic strategists are inspired by the global and Armenian society’s positive expectations. “Those are the positive expectations, which have formed after the global financial and economic crisis. The global and Armenian economies are coming out of crisis, and now the economy revival process is in fast process now. Positive expectations are being formed. Those positive expectations are grounded, since the tendencies of this year show that we will be having significant economic growth. And this atmosphere rules at the conference”.

Let’s agree that it is very difficult to understand Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan’s this analysis, especially concerning the positive expectations of the residents of Armenia. If the almost full identification of politics and business, the corrupted judicial system, the ineffective tax policy, the privileged class of business officials, the political system, based on force and hatred, the increase of prices and the social tension create positive expectations, this happens only in the Sultanate of Ilham Heidarovitch. The Head of Yerevan office of the World Bank Happi assessed our this year’s economic growth capacities at the volume of 4-5% with the condition that the situation would change in the declining spheres. The Minister of Agriculture was substituted. However the new Minister suggested old methods of saving the harvest: it turns our that the church needs to have a representative in the Ministry of Agriculture, and this is why: “the majority of achievements of agriculture depend on the God’s favor. What is surprising in that? When there is hail, people say: Almighty God, let there be no hail. Haven’t you heard that? Our grandfathers and grandmothers said that. I see nothing bad in this”. This way the new Minister of Agriculture made his contribution in the positive expectations of the society. It turns out that the one responsible for last year’s bad yield was God. And Gerasim Alaverdyan resigned in vain. Now the future of a good yield, and thus the economic growth, and thus positive expectations and thus the Armenian Davos depends on a good prayer. If the yield is bad again, there are many priests and confessions, thank God!
