Yerevan /Mediamax/. Berge Setrakian, President of Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), said today that "Now Armenia and Diaspora must work together more than ever”.

“We should unite in this globalized world around the idea of “one nation, one people” to be able to advance the Armenian economy together,”  Berge Setrakian said during the press conference, devoted to AGBU’s 110th  anniversary celebrations.

“If Diaspora does not support the homeland, our future will be in danger”, he stressed.

To Mediamax’s question on AGBU’s response to The Future of Global Armenians open letter, issued on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of AGBU, Berge Setrakian answered:

“This letter reflects exactly what we say: Armenians should follow the purpose of globalization. We should think as one nation, as one people and focus our main efforts on our homeland. We call on all forces to unite, as there is no other option for us. We will not advance, if people work on their own.”

IDeA Foundation and AGBU announced on February, 2016 a new format of cooperation. To Mediamax’s question on their actions in this direction, AGBU President answered that “they have not yet taken certain steps”.

“We cannot yet take steps, as the programs are large. Our cooperation is mainly aimed at combining all the efforts and creating one leadership, since we have the same view and vision around similar issues. It would be wiser to act together to be able to make our collaboration more effective without overlaps,” Berge Setrakian remarked.

AGBU Yerevan Office will host Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on December 3 to discuss the potential of Diaspora and advance of Armenia.
