Yerevan /Mediamax/. Iranian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajjad said today that Armenia-Iran relations have big development and expansion potential.

Iranian Ambassador said it during “Armenia- Iranian Islamic State: 25 years of cooperation” international conference in Yerevan State University.

“From the point of view of Iran, there are no limitations in the development of the cooperation. I’m sure that the Armenian government have the same point of view”, said the diplomat.

He recalled that Armenia and Iran “have helped each other at the worst times and the approach remains the same”. The Ambassador stated that Armenia-Iran cooperation development has even more potential after lifting of the sanctions against Tehran.

“Joining the Eurasian Economic Union by Armenia opens broad opportunities for the development of trade and economic relations. This feature will be heavily used. This opportunity needs to be used”, Seyyed Kazem Sajjad.

According to the Ambassador, trade turnover between Armenia and Iran amounts to USD 300 million. Iran is the 4th among Armenia 's trade partners.

On the other hand, Seyyed Kazem Sajjad highlighted that these indicators are not satisfactory, expressing hope, that the "North- South" road corridor, construction of Armenia-Iran high-voltage transmission line, as well as the establishment of an Iranian commercial center in Yerevan will help increase the trade volume between the two countries.

The Ambassador said that the delegation headed by Armenian National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan is planning a visit to Tehran in the near future.
