Yerevan /Mediamax/. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent has stated that "Georgian citizens have the right to demand elections of the same level of transparency that Armenia had in 2018.”

News-Georgia reports that Kent has made the following remarks in the interview to the Georgian service of the Voice of America:

“After not having fair elections for the last 25 years, in 2018 Armenia held the best elections in the post-Soviet space. I believe Georgian citizens can ask this question of the people organizing elections: Why can’t we have the kind of elections Armenia had?”

At the same time, the diplomat has underlined that Georgia has been the regional leader since 2003 and has demonstrated to the world “what a country can achieve if it really wants to make systemic reforms.”
