Yerevan /Mediamax/. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Jon Heffern expressed the regret over official Yerevan’s statement on the Crimean vote today.

Mediamax recalls that Armenian and Russian President had a phone talk yesterday during which they stated that the Crimean referendum was another example of realization of peoples’ right of self-determination through free expression of will.

During “NATO Partnership in South Caucasus: Strategic Approach to Regional Security” conference in Yerevan today, U.S. Ambassador Jon Heffern said that the U.S. and NATO took extensive efforts for peaceful settlement of Ukrainian crisis proposing numerous options of peaceful resolution of the conflict which were rejected by Russia.

“I regret that Armenia made such a statement”, the Ambassador said.
