Yerevan /Mediamax/. At a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated he hopes that the two countries will soon be able to deepen cooperation not only in security but also in military and technical cooperation.
“During the war, we always felt the personal support of Russia, the Russian President, Prime Minister and you. Of course, it was a difficult period before the war, but now we are living in even more difficult times, and we hope that during this period we will be able to deepen our cooperation with Russia,” said the Armenian Prime Minister.
Sergey Shoigu has spoken about the deployment of peacekeeping troops in Artsakh, noting that 23 checkpoints have been established in the whole territory of Karabakh, the road leading to Stepanakert and the Lachin corridor are under control and Russian peacekeepers ensure the movement and return of refugees.
“A lot of work is ahead - this time, I hope, toward establishing a peaceful life in Karabakh. Our main task is to prevent bloodshed, a task set before us by our Commander-in-Chief, and we certainly intend to carry it out. In addition, we intend to discuss issues related to the future life and work of our peacekeepers, and what it requires. And, of course, we want to discuss all the issues related to our cooperation, both in the military and military-technical areas. We have come with a big program and we hope to implement it,” said Shoigu.
