Yerevan/Mediamax/. German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated today that her country is ready to facilitate a dialogue between Armenia and Turkey, which will include reflection on what happened in the Ottoman Empire as well.
TASS reports that Angela Merkel made this statement at the joint press conference with NATO Secretary General, answering the question on the Bundestag’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
“A lot of things tie Germany and Turkey. That is why the German Government and I intend to contribute to establishment of a dialogue between Armenia and Turkey,” said Angela Merkel.
The Chancellor missed today the vote on the Armenian Genocide today in Bundestag, but her spokeswoman Christiane Wirtz told German media yesterday that Angela Merkel is in favor of the Armenian Genocide resolution.
